The national team of Russia won the bronze medal of the World Championships held in Buffalo (the USA) from April 26 till May 3. In these competitions our national team played five matches. At the group stage the Russian team lost to the USA team with the score 6:1, won from Italy - 0:3 and Germany - 0:10. In the semifinals, Canada defeated Russia with the score 3:2. And in the final match for the 3rd place Norway won with the score 2:1.

All-Russian sledge hockey competition is over. In the final of the championship “Ugra” played with the club from Moscow Oblast “Pheonex”. The opponent won the match with the score 2:0.

Yesterday on March 11 the national sledge hockey team of Russia beat the team of the USA in the preliminary match of the Paralympic Games and became the leader in its group.

Yesterday on March 8 the match between sledge hockey teams of Russia and Korea was held. The match was decided by penalty shootouts. Russia lost with the score 3:2. During the first period the match took place near the Korean net. Russian players attacked and Korean players were saved by their goaltender six times. The first period came to the end and it failed to score. But VasiliyVarlakov could support attacking players and kicked the puck to the goaltender’s empty angle. “Goal in the locker room” made by Ugra athlete 14 seconds before the end of the first period received viewers’ ovations.
